TRADEWINDS
Palm Island is one of the most perfect desert islands in the world. A private island, it has an exclusive resort and a handful of private residences built around its white sand shore. Located in St. Vincent and the Grenadines, in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean Sea, this special place is adjacent to Union Island, the gateway into which guests arrive from other lands by plane or yacht.
Tradewinds is one of the private homes on this sun-drenched island. This is a special place, a well appointed 2-storey house right on the beach, containing two self-contained one bedroom units. You will enjoy the spectacular views from every room in this delightful house. The house is set in a lovely, mature tropical garden, full of desert- loving shrubs, trees and flowers. When rinsing off the salt in the outdoor shower after a sea bath, you will feel as if you are in another world, with the palm fronds overhead and the rainbow created by the spray of the water.
Tradewinds can be rented as two separate units – each one perfect for a couple – or as one unified house. Each floor has one large bedroom with canopied 4-poster bed, ensuite bathroom, kitchen, dining and living area inside, plus decks, patios and a gazebo for alfresco dining outdoors. This house would perfectly suit two couples who are friends, sharing the outdoor areas but retaining privacy in bedroom/bathroom areas. In addition to the bedrooms, both units can accommodate one guest on the living room couch.

Shopping/Provisioning
From Union Island, located 10 minutes away by boat, you can order from a variety of supermarkets. There is one specialty food shop where you can find European products. Erika’s will provide a list of contacts for suppliers.
Activities
Bathing in the azure sea – snorkeling is wonderful here – day sail trips around islands in the vicinity, lobster BBQs in the Tobago Cays, walking the sandy lanes of the island, lazing on the beach or your private terrace, fishing with local fishermen or the possibility of chartering a yacht for a few days or longer, allowing you to share your time in the islands between sea and land. Check with Erika’s for bookings, schedules and prices.
Tradewinds Rates
Upper storey – 1 bedroom: US$195. per day
Ground floor – 1 bedroom: US$175. per day
If both units are rented together, the daily rate is: US$300. per day
Minimum rental period: to be discussed
Housekeeper is included in the above rates. She works daily, except public holidays, Saturdays and Sundays. Daily services include cleaning, laundry and dishwashing. The housekeeper can also carry groceries over from Union Island in the mornings if you give her a list the day before.
Also included in the rate are a welcome basket of some basic food supplies, already stowed in the kitchen before your arrival, and the initial and final boat trip from/to Union Island. All linens – bed, bath and beach towels are included.
New!! Gourmet meals prepared and stowed in your fridge or freezer, awaiting your arrival. Don’t worry about shopping or cooking the first day – or any day. Erika’s will look after everything for you. Extra boat trips from Union to Palm or back: US$20. per person – Erika’s will provide contact information for water taxi operators.
A 50% deposit is required to confirm booking.
Our rates are based on payment by direct bank ‘wire’ transfer.
For credit card payments – Visa & Mastercard – please note there is a 5% surcharge on card payments. You can email &/or call us with your credit card details for security. Alternatively, for a wire transfer we will provide the necessary account details.
In the event of a cancellation up to two months prior to the rental we would refund all but 10% of the overall rental fee. The full payment is required 2 months prior to the rental. Within 2 months this is deemed non-refundable but at this stage we would be happy to credit the amount against a further booking for the same property. This credit must be used within a 2 year period.
Note : there is a French doctor, who is also an artist, living on Palm Island, in case of emergencies.
